RURAL residents of Noosa Shire are being urged to familiarise themselves with State Government planning proposals for hinterland areas, as the Draft SEQ Regional Plan released last month envisages no further development in rural areas.
"Hinterland property owners must ensure they are fully informed about the Regional Plan," said Division one Councillor Kelly today. "Residents should either visit the website at www.oum.qld.gov.au or attend one of the Information Meetings Council is planning to hold in Cooroy and Pomona.
"The first briefing will be held at the Cooroy Bowls Club in Opal Street at 5.00 pm on Tuesday, November 30th. State Government planning officers will attend this one, but not the Pomona meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7th, again at 5.00 pm at the Rural Futures Centre in Pavilion Street. I emphasise it is vital that property owners understand the significance of the State Government's intentions. It will be no good complaining after the horse has bolted. They are still at the draft stage and now is the time for objections to be made and heard."
Property owners requiring further information regarding the briefing sessions should contact Kari Porter at Noosa Council on 5449 5266.
