Popular Federal Parliamentarian Bronwyn Bishop is the special guest
at a dinner at Maleny later this month (May 21).
The event, hosted by the local branch of the Liberal National Party, is a chance to hear what an Abbott Government would achieve and also where Mrs Bishop stands on key issues confronting the nation.
"My parents showed me, by example, that there are two groups of people in the world: those who are part of the decision-making process and those who have decisions made for them," Mrs Bishop says.
"I wanted to be part of the decision-making process."
Mrs Bishop is currently the Federal Shadow Minister for Seniors but previously held two ministerial positions in the Howard Government, including the aged care portfolio. The proud mother-of-two has been a member of the Liberal Party since 1973.
LNP Member for Fisher Peter Slipper is encouraging residents to attend the dinner.
"Bronwyn is a hard-working and passionate politician who's had a fascinating career," Mr Slipper said. "I'm looking forward to hearing her stories and I'm sure guests will walk away feeling educated and entertained."
The dinner is at 6.30pm, Friday May 21 at Tranquil Park Mountain Resort. The cost is $30 per person for a two course meal. Bookings can be made at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phoning 07-5494 3594. Booking numbers are required for catering purposes. Payment can be made at the door.
