Once described as uninhibited by direction, it is now clear that guitar genius Bruce Mathiske's many eclectic music influences (enhanced with flavours of Australia, the Mediterranean, Ireland and sounds of Latin America and Africa) have evolved into a style all of his own.

Bruce first studied Classical and Jazz receiving a Diploma in Music in improvising, arranging, composition, theory and sight-reading before turning professional over 20 years ago.  He is the only Australian musician to have been invited to perform and give workshops at Yale University USA.

Bruce's performances and workshops demonstrate the diversity from what essentially is a piece of wood with 6 strings.  He uses the guitar to become it's own orchestra and encompasses a huge ranges of genres from swing to Latin, Jazz to African, Folk to flamenco, gypsy to ambient/landscape simultaneously playing didgeridoo and more.

Bruce Mathiske now tours the world playing the music he has always aspired to play and has performed with guitar icons Chet Atkins and Charlie Byrd.  His unique style of playing bass, rhythm and melody simultaneously had led to standing ovations and sell out concerts all over the world.

Bruce Mathiske has not played on the Coast for a couple years.  If you want to see a brilliant guitarist, no matter what style of music you enjoy, there is one performance only at the Nambour Civic Centre on Saturday 15th July at 8pm.  Tickets can be purchased by phoning 54757777 or in person at the Box Office in the Nambour Civic Centre.

"Awash with jaw-dropping virtuosity!"
-Bruce Elder Sydney Morning Herald 2005

Performing at the Nambour Civic Centre on Saturday 15th July at 8pm

… and once described as uninhibited by direction, it is now clear that guitar genius Bruce Mathiske's many eclectic music influences have evolved into a style all of his own. A new genre borne out of fiery fretwork unique to Mathiske, has been encapsulated in his new CD - Live in Ireland. The genre is Music, that's right no fancy titles no pigeon hole, just music and the crowds love it!

Mathiske has been touring the world with his Australian built guitar playing bass, rhythm and melody simultaneously to packed houses and standing ovations. He celebrates his 10th year of touring the Emerald Isle with his new live release. Featuring his usual solo guitar virtuosity and also his combo on bass & percussion, the CD is striking a chord with music lovers who applaud his honesty, virtuosity and diversity.

"Addictive" -Acoustic Guitar Magazine USA

The album features Bruce's trademark solo guitar virtuosity with other tracks more band oriented incorporating his combo "Roots in Rhythm" on percussion and bass where a  blend of magical cultures meet with music featuring rhythms from Latin America, Africa, the Mediterranean and some flavours of gypsy, flamenco and jungle. You will be taken on a journey with infectious rhythms and fiery fretwork. There's much more in store for Mathiske as he continues to push the boundaries of guitar magic.
