Re launch of student art group at Noosa Regional Gallery
Noosa Regional Gallery is relaunching its art group for secondary school students on Sunday afternoons from 1pm.
Named Bubblewrap, the group of students meets Sundays to make art, exchange ideas, and occasionally attend workshops in the supportive environment of the Gallery. There is no fee for membership. Students from local high schools with a passion for art are very welcome to drop in on a Sunday afternoon from 1pm.
The program will commence with a creative recycling workshop program, REPROCESS, facilitated by Maxine Stibbe, a multi-platform artist whose skills are based in the mediums of paint, paper, ceramics, stone, metal, photography (digital and traditional), multi media, text and performance. Maxine has completed a Bachelor of Creative Industries- Visual Art @ QUT and has 17 years art industry experience.
The four workshops, held on consecutive Sundays from 10 to 3 pm starting 4 March 07 consist of Collage, Jewellery making, Book/Text/ Book and a Sculpture workshop. The fee for each workshop is $35 with most materials supplied.
Image attached is Katie Tooth, a former "bubblewrapper" who, on completing her Higher School certificate at Coolum High, then her Diploma of Visual Arts CSIT, has had 3 solo exhibitions, has participated in senumerous group shows and won the Art and Design award Gold Coast City Council 2004
