"Thanks to impermanence, everything is possible." (Thich Nhat Hanh) In this 1-day course we investigate how we react to unexpected changes and upheavals in our lives. At some level, we all know that our lives change—people leave, get old, and die, or whatever possessions we have break or get lost. But despite knowing that these changes are a fact of life, they cause us immense sadness and suffering. In this course, we look at why this is the case, and discover methods of dealing with change in realistic, and more positive ways.
This course is suitable for beginners and consists of short teachings, meditations and discussion. This course is taught at beginner's level, aiming for people with no or little previous Buddhist knowledge. It is ideal if you are interested in gaining some first insights into Buddhism, its philosophy, practices and wisdom. If you have done one of our Meditation for Beginners or Buddhism in a Nutshell courses, this course is a great continuation of your engagement with Buddhism. Focusing on practical application, we will offer a series of 1-day beginner's courses spread over the whole year, each covering a different basic topic, like the nature of mind, meditation, karma, and how to develop positive emotions.
