City's heritage in showcase display
The City's rich and diverse heritage will be showcased in what is thought to be the first ever heritage forum on the Coast next month.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the Caloundra City Heritage Forum, a Queensland Heritage Week event, will provide opportunities for discussion and debate on local heritage issues, as well as a program of guest speakers, tours and exhibitions.
"This event is a great networking opportunity for anyone with an interest or involved in preserving the City's rich and diverse heritage," Cr Aldous said.
The forum will include keynote speaker Peter Marquis-Kyle, co-author of the award-winning 'Illustrated Burra Charter: good practice for heritage places', as well as guest presenter, Indigenous cultural heritage consultant Beverly Hand.
The program will also include an exclusive, one-off display of local heritage 'treasures', as well as a guided tour of some of Caloundra's key heritage sites.
The event will be held on Monday 14 May at The Events Centre (formerly Caloundra Cultural Centre) from 8.30am. Registration is $15, and includes catering.
To register, contact the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery on 5420 8299. Registrations must be received by 30 April.
A Caloundra City cultural heritage initiative, the event is supported by the Regional Gallery Association Queensland through Museums and Galleries Services Queensland - Travelling Speaker Fund.
