Sports Summit event proving popular….get in quick!

With seats filling fast, the City's first ever Sports Summit is proving very popular with local clubs, so avoid disappointment and reserve your place at next week's seminar today. 

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the first-ever Caloundra City Sports Summit will feature qualified presenters, guest speakers and sporting personalities delivering information on a range of topics relevant to the local sport and recreation industry.

"The line up will include Australian and Queensland rugby league legend Ross Strudwick, along with recreational kayaker and Australian Customs Officer Natalie Stevenson," Cr Aldous said.

Participants will learn from the experts when local media personalities - Nathan "Nugget" Dell from Hot91's Sin Bin segment, Yvonne Sampson from Channel 7 Sport and the Sunshine Coast Daily's Sports Editor, Paul Munnings present a session on how to gain media coverage.

Other presenters include representatives from the Australian Sports Commission, Quad Park Corporation, USM Events and the CPR Group covering a range of topics such as fundraising, sponsorship and grants, how to run a successful event and coaching techniques for children.

The first Summit will be held next Wednesday 25 July, 6pm to 9pm at The Events Centre. The second Summit, featuring a new program, will be held on Tuesday 18 September, 6pm to 9pm at the Landsborough Recreation Centre.

Local sport and rec clubs to line up for summit event

If you're in the sport and recreation industry, then this is one summit worth reaching.

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the first-ever Caloundra City Sports Summit will feature qualified presenters, guest speakers and sporting personalities delivering information on a range of topics relevant to the local sport and recreation industry.

"Australian sport is operating in a changing environment - one that will pose new challenges and opportunities for the City's sporting community," Cr Aldous said.

"It is great that this workshop has been able to attract wonderful representation from organisations and people across the Sunshine Coast with a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills in the sport and recreation industry."

The first Summit will be held on Wednesday 25 July, 6pm to 9pm at The Events Centre.

The Queensland Government has contributed $4250 to the cost of holding the Summits, which aim to get more Queenslanders active through sport and recreation.
