Healthy fun on the run in Caloundra
What better way to enjoy the healthy lifestyle at Caloundra on Queensland's Sunshine Coast than taking in the early morning fresh air and blue skies during the Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run on Sunday, May 28.
Following the success of last year, the run has become an annual event over 10km and 3km for all ages and abilities. Major Prizes include an Inexa road bike, accommodation packages at Aspect and Watermark resorts, and lucky prize draws.
The course hugs the Pumicestone Passage Marine Park from Bell's Creek at Golden Beach to Bulcock Beach and then around the Caloundra Headland taking in the spectacular scenery at Kings Beach and Shelly Beach before finishing at Moffat Beach.
The 10klm assembly point is Jensen Park at the southern end of Golden Beach from 7.15am (cost $20 which includes event T-shirt). The 3klm race assembly is at Moffat Beach Park at 8.15am (family $20, individual $10, student $5).
Categories include youth (under-19), open (20-35) and masters (over 36). Entry forms and further information is available at www.olr.qld.edu.au. All money raised will be donated to the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School.
Caloundra Tourism Inc president Mike Wilkinson said the fun run was a great way to enjoy the natural scenic beauty of the Caloundra coastline.
"Whether you live here or are on a short break or holiday, this event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors no matter what your fitness level is," Mr Wilkinson said.
He said Caloundra's Sunday markets that run until 2pm in Bulcock Street and featured over 100 stalls of local produce and unique art and craft, was a great way to wind down after the run.
