National country sensations to perform in Caloundra
National award winning country sensations The McClymonts will take centre stage when the City celebrates the end of an era with a free community celebration next month.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said Council will host the free event, the last Council-organised event before amalgamation, on Sunday 9 March in Felicity Park, in conjunction with the weekly Bulcock St markets.
"March 15 will mark a significant day for the Sunshine Coast, and in the lead up to amalgamation, we are keen to give our local residents an opportunity to celebrate this historic event," Cr Aldous said.
The McClymonts, who wowed audiences at last year's Caloundra Music Festival, will perform live at the free event, which runs from 9am to 3pm.
Council displays, including an opportunity to purchase special limited edition Caloundra City Council merchandise and discounted tickets to the 2008 Caloundra Music Festival are just some of the activities being planned for the day.
There will also be free screenings of the Ma & Pa Bendall documentary Making Waves, as well as special screening of 'City Time', a documentary commissioned by Council to capture the legacy of the City.
The Caloundra Regional Art Gallery will launch a new street art exhibition, and there will be food stalls, a free tree giveaway for ratepayers, competitions and much more.
More information will be available on Council's website
in coming weeks. Alternatively, contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 5420 8200.
