Caravanning Queensland’s free Caravan Safety Check Day will roll into the Sunshine Coast, providing local caravanners the opportunity to check that their caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and other recreational vehicles adhere to safety standards and are compliant to Australian standards.
With more than 35,000 caravans and campers registered in the Sunshine Coast region, Caravanning Queensland has approximately 50 avid carafans registered for the booked-out inspections which are held at the Nambour Showgrounds on Saturday, August 24.
Held in conjunction with Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, the event allows recreational vehicle owners the chance to have their vehicle weighed, measured and audited, with qualified inspectors educating owners on any breaches, rather than issuing infringements on the day.
Caravanning Queensland General Manager, Jason Plant, said the day’s aim is to educate owners on how they can be more informed of the safety standards and maintenance required to safely enjoy their vehicles and holidays for years to come.
"The Caravan Safety Check Days are a great opportunity for caravanners to speak with industry experts,” Mr Plant said.
“Participants will gain a better understanding of keeping their vehicles underweight, loading them for even weight distribution as well as ensuring their vehicle is compliant to Australian standards.
An impressive 45 recreational vehicle owners have registered to take advantage of the booked out comprehensive vehicle checks and to seek expert safety and maintenance advice on the Sunshine Coast.
Caravanning Queensland’s Safety Check event is the prelude to the inaugural Sunshine Coast Caravan and Outdoor Expo, on at the Nambour Showgrounds from Friday, August 30, to Sunday, September 1, 2019. The event is set to be the largest industry-run caravan and camping event on the Sunshine Coast with a huge variety of caravan, camping and outdoor products from more than 80 attending exhibitors, including 17 local recreational vehicle businesses, on display.
