AERIAL ACTS SET TO AMAZE @ CARNIVALE STREET PARTY
Trapeze artists Cirque Espace will be performing as part of the FREE event from 6pm -- 7pm (directly after the body art parades 5 -- 6pm -- and also FREE).
Stars of the high flying trapeze Cirque Espace have a new toy. It's a mobile aerial rig ... an apparatus that enables them to take their death defying aerial acts wherever they wish.
And, as their home town is Eumundi, they've chosen to launch the new rig with a FREE SHOW at the 2010 Australian Body Art Carnivale (Eumundi, 14 -- 16 May).
Cirque Espace Director Nikki Gheysen says the rig will be unveiled and used in a special show as part of the Carnivale Street Party at 6pm on Saturday 15 May at the Australian Body Art Carnivale in Eumundi.
Nikki explains that the main street of Eumundi, Memorial Drive, will be closed for the Saturday evening sunset street party from 6pm -- 7pm.
"Visitors coming along to see our performance on the Saturday evening will be amazed by our aerial silks, where the performer entwines herself within two long fabrics," says Nikki. "It's mesmerizing to watch, and incredibly beautiful".
"They'll also get to see performances using static trapeze -- where the performer hangs from a bar creating beautiful poses".
"It will be pretty spectacular stuff to watch," says Nikki, "And certainly a fabulous fit with the amazing colour and excitement that the Australian Body Art Carnivale is bringing to Eumundi all weekend".
Event Manager Danielle Taylor says the hour-long Carnivale Street Party will also feature fabulous music from the Pantastic Steel Band as well as performances from the Adrenalin Dance troupe and AGOA Dynamic Movement.
"It will be a feast of colour, music and fun, and we're encouraging everyone to get up and dance and be part of the fun as we celebrate together!"
Danielle explains that the 2010 Carnivale will feature competitions and exhibitions in body art, as well as pavement art (chalk art on the street); wearable art (fabulous fashion made from recycled treasures); vehicle body art; photography and visual art.
The Carnivale will also see live music all weekend through the FREE Eumundi Live Festival, world-class street performers and buskers, craft and body art workshops, a Friday night Masked Gallery Walk, and a whole lot more.

More about the rig:
Not only is the rig lightweight, but its polished aluminum finish is visually stunning. It requires no guy cables nor pegging, making it completely free standing and usable indoor or outdoors. It can stand up to 20 feet high.
