Lesley Jorgensen’s first novel Cat & Fiddle has been compared to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. It’s a contemporary comedy of manners and misunderstandings with a dash of racial prejudice and gender politics set in modern day Britain.
It’s the story of two families, the Muslim Bangladeshi Choudhery and the upper class English Bournes whose lives become entwined; it explores love, marriage and sexuality. Lesley is an Australian medical negligence lawyer who married into a Muslim Anglo-Bangladeshi family while working in England. After 10 years she bravely navigated her way through a divorce as she wrote this book.
