Children's author talks bilbies at Maleny library
Children's book author Susan-Zela Bissett will be the guest story teller at Maleny Library's free regular storytelling session in July.
The writer/illustrator and artist, who is also a primary school teacher, has, along with co-writer, indigenous author Stephen Hagan, published Melly and the Bilby, a colourful tale about the rescue of one of these cute Australian marsupials.
To celebrate the new book, children who visit the Maleny Library on 5 July will be treated to a reading by Susan of this special story which includes interesting and little known facts about the bilby.
The book reflects Susan's passion for the environment, she is a founding member of the Sisters of May - a group formed to raise awareness about the threatened Mary River.
Copies of Melly the Bilby will be available for purchase on the day and 20 per cent of all sales will go to the Save the Bilby Fund.
