HASTINGS STREET GETS INTO THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
In true Christmas spirit Hastings Street will come alive when the lights on the lavish Christmas tree featured in the streets entrance is lit this Friday, with the help of Australia's favourite songstress, Marina Prior.
In Noosa for a series of performances at berardo's restaurant this weekend Marina, who is a regular visitor to Noosa, will delight hundreds of locals who annually come out to watch the lighting of the tree. Performing will be Noosa Corale to sing all your favourite Christmas songs commencing at 6.00pm.
Hastings Street Association in conjunction with their traders has once again ensured the street is filled with lots of holiday spirit, especially for so many who visit Noosa from interstate and abroad during the peak season.
The impressive Christmas tree which is decorated with over 1000 lights will delight onlookers as it changes colour every to 30 seconds.
As most locals know, Hastings Street for the last six months has been undergoing its first makeover since the nineties to ensure it retains its appeal. Work is feverishly being executed to ensure the street will be presented in the best possible state prior to the Christmas rush.
Association President and restaurateur, Jim Berardo said "The village atmosphere of Noosa is a buzz with anticipation of the festive season. It's going to be a great holiday period and Noosa is ready and able to play host again to our thousands of visitors".
"The street as we know has been undergoing a makeover and everyone including both the local community and business operators has been fantastic during this time. Whilst there has been some inconvenience due to the construction, the contractors have assured us the street will be presented well for our busiest time of year".
"This year is going to be a bumper year but we are very excited about our 2008 "Christmas on Hastings" plans when the streetscape works will be completed and we truly will have something to sing about" Berardo said.
