Learn secrets of success at Clean Beach workshop
Think you've got one of the friendliest, cleanest beaches around? Then you don't want to miss an opportunity to attend a free information session and workshop on the Clean Beach Challenge.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said with entries for the Keep Australia Beautiful Clean Beach Challenge closing soon, time is running out to nominate your local beach for these prestigious awards.
"There are many benefits of being involved in this annual competition, which is not only about clean beaches, but also encouraging partnerships and managing local coastal environments," Cr Aldous said.
Community members, groups and organisations are encouraged to attend a free information session and workshop next week, which provides an opportunity to learn more about the Clean Beach Challenge and the ways it can benefit local communities.
The workshop will be held next Monday 6 August from 9am to noon at the Lake Kawana Community Centre. Morning tea will be provided.
Keep Australia Beautiful judges take into account a beach's geographic, environmental and economic circumstances and how effectively and efficiently the local community uses the resources available to it.
"Caloundra City has a proud reputation to live up to, with Moffat Beach taking out last year's regional Community Action Award.
"With so many proactive, committed community groups and individuals working to keep our City's beaches in tip-top shape, this is an ideal opportunity to nominate and publicly celebrate and profile the achievements of these dedicated people."
