Clean Up Australia Day is on again this year in Noosa, on Sunday March 7th 2004. This year the Noosa Integrated Catchment Association Inc. (NICA) is undertaking the Coordinating role.
All the usual sites will be in action and the usual activities will be happening. Many of the hinterland and the North Shore sites will be organizing their own sausage sizzles following the clean up, and the main sausage sizzle hosted by Tewantin-Noosa Lions will be on in the Gympie Terrace Parklands near the Yacht Club.
Supervised sites will be at Boreen point, Cooran, Cooroy, the Environment Centre in Wallace Park, Tewantin Boat Ramp, Noosa Coast Guard, The Spit at the end of Hastings Street, the boat ramp at Thomas Street Noosaville, at Weyba Bridge Noosaville, on Noosa North Shore at 1st Cutting, Pomona, and Sunshine Beach.
Anyone wishing to join the volunteers on Sunday 7th March between 8:00 am and 11:30 am can obtain details of Clean Up sites by phoning NICA on 5449 9650
NOOSA RIVER TARGETTED ON CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY
Clean Up Australia Day in Noosa always has much attention focused on its iconic river. This year, River Ranger Michael McNmara will join the flotilla cleaning up the river banks. All the usual tinnies and outrigger canoes will be joined this year by the Riverwatch boat and a new group of yachties.
Of course the river bed will not escape attention, and scuba divers organized by Noosa Blue Water Dive will attack the river bed under Noosa's many bridges where the odd errant shopping trolley can be found. Participating divers can get air from NBWD.
Volunteers with boats can register at the Noosa Coast Guard ramp, the ramp at the end of Thomas Street, or in Tewantin at the end of Doonella Street.
Anyone wishing to join the volunteers on Sunday 7th March can obtain details of Clean Up sites by phoning NICA on 5449 9650
