Community to discuss hot topics from Our Place Our Future
Tomorrow night, representatives of the Sunshine Coast's diverse community will meet to explore the important issues the Sunshine Coast faces as council begins preparing the plans that will guide the region's future.
With the help of a facilitator and a panel to lead the discussion, the evening will focus on a series of papers that council released this week for public comment.
The discussion will address issues ranging from climate change and biodiversity to affordable living, sustainable transport and healthy waterways, and the Statement of Proposals---the first step in creating a Planning Scheme for the Sunshine Coast.
Annie Gaffney, ABC Coast FM Morning Show presenter, will start the conversation to find out the community's thoughts, ideas and any issues they identify, as work starts on setting the new direction for the Sunshine Coast.
The panel will then help to lead this discussion. Panel members include: Carl Nancarrow, General Manager Property, Reed Property Group; Dr Brendan Burkett, Professor, University of the Sunshine Coast; Phillip Moran, Noosa and District Landcare Group; Sue Scheinpflug, CEO, United Synergies Ltd.
Representatives from local community and other interest groups will make up the audience and will have an opportunity to join the discussion with questions and comments from the floor.
