A group with a new approach to contemporary art is holding its first exhibition on the weekend of October 14th - 15th, at the Atrium Gallery, Buderim Craft Cottage.
Fifteen diverse artists have gathered together to further their interest in mixed and multimedia aspects of the art of today. Their work includes contemporary painterly approaches to traditional subject matter - floral, scenic and still life - as well decorative functional art using hand made papers or silk as a canvas. All pieces are designed to be displayed in family homes and create a focus of interest.
As a special highlight of the weekend the artists involved are hand painting fabric rain umbrellas in designs and colours to suit the individual. These will be available for a very reasonable price and will be painted as required throughout the exhibition weekend. Visitors can confer with the artists and together develop a one-off design. It is hoped this special feature will allow the group to showcase their fresh approach to contemporary art.
The artists exhibiting will include:
Olga Garner-Morris, an internationally known artist, whose work embraces a subject range from traditional local landscape to modern abstraction
Nanette Chadwick specialty is detailed pencil drawings of the nude figure
Eliza Pronk creates textural floral works as well as minimalist oriental brushwork
Dawn McGregor works in pastel
Peter Linhorne's watercolours are lit from within with a special glow
Beverly Bunch and Renee Patterson who paint abstract and semi abstract imagery.
This October Show is a chance for the public to see these individual artists painting and exhibiting together in a gallery venue. All work is for sale and a low commission (to cover running costs) will enable those collecting art to purchase at a very reasonable price.
For those new to the Coast, Buderim Craft Cottage a venue for local art groups, is at 5 Main St, Buderim.
