Local community groups are polishing their dancing shoes, practising their scales, and gearing up for the long-awaited reopening of Cooroy’s Memorial Hall.

The builders are confident everything will be in readiness for the rescheduled opening on 21 April 2018 despite the ongoing wet weather.

Noosa mayor Tony Wellington will cut a ribbon to officially open the renovated hall at 2pm.

Cooroy Memorial Hall Association spokeswoman Amy Dwyer said she had organised a community concert to celebrate the re-opening that had something for everyone.

“We have dancers, singers, a choir, and hopefully even a pipe band,” Mrs Dwyer said. “We want to celebrate our hall’s new lease of life with the community who have supported us during the restoration works.”

The CMHA has worked tirelesslessly for the past 12 months to manage and pay for the extensive renovations for the hall.

“The CMHA is very grateful for all the support and sponsorships provided by local people and businesses,” Mrs Dwyer said.

“It’s clear the hall is very important to the community and we look forward to hearing the familiar sounds of tap dancing echoing from the hall again very soon.”

More information about the rescheduled opening can be found on the Hall’s facebook page, and on the CMHA’s new webpage at
