Coolum Police, Volunteers in Policing, Twin Waters Neighbourhood Watch, Lions and Twin Waters Residents association volunteers will be helping out Sunshine Coast District Crime Office in preventing theft of number plates to local residents.
Volunteers and police will fit anti-theft screws to North Shore residents’ vehicles this Saturday April 22 between 9am and 12 noon at the Apex Camp off Noojor Rd Mudjimba.
Number plates will be fitted with anti-theft screws. These measures help prevent theft of number plates from vehicles which are then used by offenders in committing crimes in attempts to remain anonymous. If you would like anti-theft screws fitted to your vehicle please attend the Apex Camp between 9am and Midday this Saturday morning.
Senior Constable Marlene Fisher Station Crime Reduction Officer for Coolum Station advised residents this initiative will serve to reduce the incidences of crime involving stolen number plates and associated crimes.
If your number plates were stolen, you can be sure that they will be put onto another vehicle.
The one way screws can't be removed with conventional tools, which will make it even harder for thieves to steal plates.
If your registration plates are stolen report it to police as soon as possible and see the Department of Transport and Main Roads to cancel the registration plate. www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Registration/Cancelling-vehicle-registration
If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.
You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
