Deathtrap, rated In the Top Ten Hit Broadway Shows of all Time
(according to a US survey, released late last year) opens Friday March
19th at The Indee at Eumundi. This brilliant comedy-thriller ran for a
staggering 1,793 performances, between 1978 and 1984.
Deathtrap is not a "who dunnit", it's a who'll do it? The plot twists and turns at a rapid pace with gasp-inducing thrills and rib-cracking comedy.
Novelist and playwright, Ira Levin, wrote such famous plays and novels as No Timer For Sergeants, The Stepford Wives, Boys From Brazil, A Kiss Before Dying, Rosemary's Baby, The Sliver and Veronica's room, but had his biggest ever stage hit with Deathtrap.
For its Sunshine Coast season Director, David Berker, has shaped a roller-coaster ride of thrills and laughs. Eddie Ellis, plays fading playwright, Sidney Bruhl and Luke Lanham, his student, Clifford Anderson, who turns in a brilliant play script for assessment. Bruhl, who hasn't had a hit in years, decides the script is worth killing for and lures Anderson to Bruhl's remote country home, where the play becomes a comedy succession of one-upmanships in the killing department.
In supporting roles are Alison Bretag. Alan Ball and Inger Vinogradov.
Deathtrap comes to The Indee at Eumundi 7.30pm Fri 19th, Sat 20th, Fri 26th, Sat 27th plus Sun 21st at 2pm and Sun 28th at 5pm. Tickets $20, concessions and Sundays $18. Bookings 5472 8200 or online at eumundilivetheatre.com
