ArtScool at the Noosa and Caloundra Galleries and the Butter Factory Arts Centre focus on creative, innovative and fun learning experiences and are facilitated by experienced and trained creative educators.

During each school holiday period, both galleries and the Butter Factory offer a variety of programs for ages 4 to 12 years. The program focuses on providing a rich and valuable experience with small groups limited to 12 students.

Wednesday 19 December, 10.30 am - 12 noon
Dreaming stories - Summer ArtsCool
Listening to traditional dreaming stories of the local Gubbi Gubbi peoples, children will draw their own interpretation of the stories using a variety of mediums.

Fractal patterns of root systems - Summer ArtsCool
Exploring the branching patterns of trees and other root systems, children will create a patterned watercolour resist painting.

Yam grub diorama - Summer ArtsCool
Stories of the desert people. Children will create yam grubs with clay and build their own environment to tell a story.

Symbolic fabric paintings - Summer ArtsCool
Using the favourite colours of Yulyurlu Lorna Fencer Napurrurla, children will develop their own symbolic language to inspire their painted artwork.

Yam print art - Summer ArtsCool
Inspired by the paintings of Yulyurlu Lorna Fencer Napurrurla, children will print repeated patterns plus painted detail to create a fabric piece suitable for framing or as a cushion cover.

Painted digging sticks - Summer ArtsCool
Children create their own stick art after exploring techniques used to decorate the traditional digging sticks of the Warlpiri people.

Metamorphoses drawing and collage - Summer ArtsCool
Using images of yams and other vegetables inspired by the yam dreaming stories, children will transform the vegetables into human and animal forms.
