Sunshine Coast Council presents two exciting exhibitions dig.i.tate and Drop the Dust at Caloundra Regional Gallery until 27 May 2012.
Council’s Cultural and Heritage Collections Manager, John Waldron said Caloundra Regional Gallery is proud to exhibit the works by leading two and three dimensional traditional and new media artists.
“When people walk into Caloundra Gallery they will feel like they have been transported to a fabrication workshop,” he said.
“dig.i.tate artists Beau Deeley and Corrie Wright will work as artists-in-residence in a fabrication laboratory (Fablab) and experiment with new 3D printing technology.
“Fablabs are opening world-wide and their focus is for access and collaboration, for low cost fabrication and production on a small scale.
“dig.i.tate is the first activity as part of a pilot program to investigate the processes and potentials of a fabrication laboratory which gives people the capability to turn their ideas and concepts into reality.”
Mr Waldron said visitors to the gallery will also enjoy the Drop the Dust exhibition artworks of two established South Australian two and three dimensional artists, Pamela Kouwenhoven and Margaret Worth.
“These artists have jointly formed the curatorial theme which focuses on the pervasiveness of dust in our lives, whether it be in the form of particles or huge visible dust storms,” he said.
dig.i.tate and Drop the Dust will be officially launched at Caloundra Regional Gallery on Thursday, 26 April at 6pm. All welcome to attend.
Bookings are also open for the following exhibition activities:
Drop the Dust: Artist workshop, Friday 27 April at 9 to 11.30am
The process of creativity with exhibiting artists: Pamela Kouwenhoven and Margaret Worth. $30 per person.
