The Eumundi markets have been drawing visitors for 25 years, and now in its second year the Eumundi Food Fest, a celebration of local food and produce, will build on the town's reputation as a foodies destination for those seeking fresh, high quality, interesting and often unique products to tempt the taste buds.
The Eumundi Food Fest, Sunday 20 June, will again be an official part of the 'noosalongweekend' cultural event. Over ten days from Friday June 18 to Sunday June 27 the noosalongweekend presents a diverse range of cultural activity including theatre, cinema, music, visual arts, gastronomic and the environment.
The Eumundi Food Fest programme for the day includes a Farmers Market, showcasing local foods and produce, presented by the growers and producers, including chutneys, relishes, spices, jams, curry pastes, German sausages, gourmet sauces and dips, cakes, Australian bush foods, fresh herbs, nougat, fresh fruit and vegetables, the list goes on.
Food to Go will have a great variety of takeaway foodies delights where you can design your own picnic, sit, relax and listen to some of the regions best local musicians, while trying a glass or two of wine from our local wineries.
Juicy and sweet corn on the cob, seafood paella, rainforest fruit flavoured yoghurts, Mexican tortilla, frozen mango licks, Dutch pancakes, Queensland grown and processed coffee, skewered kangaroo with bushfood condiments, hot flavoured macadamia nuts, fruit sorbets are just a selection.
Dale Scott from the Dilly Bag will be running an introduction to Bush Tucker workshop - designed to give an awareness of the unique range of flavours and textures of Australian Bush Tucker and how easy it is to incorporate it into our daily lives. Participants will be presented with a wide range of native Australian products, cooking techniques, herbs spices, fruits and meats and try Bush Tucker in contemporary dishes such as riberry and apple gem scones, bush tomato dip, lemon myrtle and native lime soda and emu salami!
Part proceeds from the Eumundi Food Fest will go to the 'Eumundi Art House' a community project raising funds to create an artspace in Eumundi with access to all.
