'EXPLODE 06 delivers music industry information and honours our best musicians at The Sunshine Coast Music Industry Awards'
EXPLODE 2006 is the Sunshine Coasts third music industry information day to be held Saturday 26th of August from 11.30am until 11pm at artSynC, Nambour.
EXPLODE is a music industry information and careers day that has been established as an annual event on the Sunshine Coast with two successful events held in 2003 and 2004. This year EXPLODE will also include The Sunshine Coast Music Industry Awards.
EXPLODE and the Sunshine Coast Music Industry Awards has been coordinated by C.A.R.M.A and music industry business, Tsunami Magazine, elevenpm recording studios, Earthbase Productions, Shake it Up Music, Lifeline, Excitare Films and Active Sound.
During EXPLODE musicians and industry workers will be able to access high-level industry professionals and organizations such as AIR (Association of Independent Records) and APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association). As well as find out about music courses from TAFE, SAE and Quantum and talk to recording studios, record labels, venue operators, online distributors and more…..
EXPLODE will also host a two forums.
Between 1pm - 2pm lawyer Bruce Johnson will discuss The Music Essentials from a Law Perspective covering those legal issues affecting self managed singer-songwriters, intellectual property/copyright in self produced music, name image and associated art work - licensing songs for promotions & compilations while selling your own CDs - live performance contracts.
From 2pm until 4pm the second forum, Loud and Local 'making waves from your own space' will bring together a panel of national music industry professionals to discuss how do you get from the garage to the stage - and then from the first gig to your first CD release?
The forum panel includes national industry workers such as publicist Evan Alexander and Geoff Corbett from The Tremors and representatives from (AIR) Independent Record Labels
Association of Australia, APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) and Terry Church Creative Director of online distribution company Public Revolution.
During the day, EXPLODE will also showcase emerging performers, music art and regional music video clips.
Showcase performers include, Nick Kirkpatrick, Wynta Green, Anthony Syms and The William Moon Book Society.
The Evening program will start at 6pm with the Sunshine Coast Music Industry Awards.
The Sunshine Coast is filled with exceptional musicians from all walks of life and all genres. As well as a plethora of talented musicians, the Sunshine Coast also comprises of hard working music industry representatives. The Sunshine Coast Music Industry Awards aims to recognise the efforts of these musicians and industry representatives though a presentation of fun and fanfare.
Some of the categories are, best group, solo/duo, new act (formed and gigged in 2005), song, album 2005, cover art and musician male and female and best acts in the following ctegories. Also at 8pm two regional bands will be celebrating the release of their EP's at EXPLODE LossofAutonomy will release 'When Seasons Never Change' and at 9.30pm INSTINCT will release 'Freedom and the Family'.
EXPLODE will also see the close of a two-year music program A-Venue which has been funded by Arts Queensland and coordinated by C.A.R.M.A (Cultural and Regional Musicians Association).
C.A.R.M.A is a not-for-profit music association supporting the career development of young musicians and music industry workers on the Sunshine Coast. C.A.R.M.A operates from artSynC, the Sunshine Coasts arts incubator in Nambour.
