Swoon to Fabulous Faure with Noosa Chorale on 11 and 12 October. The Chorale will be singing some of the most popular and uplifting works by Gabriel Faure.
The first concert will be presented at St Mark's Buderim at 7pm on 11 October where the choir will be accompanied on the beautiful organ by Robert Boughen OBE.
Robert Boughen is recognised internationally as one of the most brilliant and versatile musicians in Australia. For many years he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, University Organist and Director of Music at St. John's Cathedral. He still holds the posts of Brisbane City Organist and Custodian of the Klais organ in the Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane.
St Mark's Buderim is a beautifully intimate church and will be a perfect setting for the serene, elevating and sublime music of Faure.
At the Sunday concert at the Bicentennial Hall on 12 October at 4pm, Noosa Sinfonia will join Noosa Chorale for an orchestral version of this concert.
Both concerts will open with Cantique de Jean Racine, followed by three songs sung by soprano Caroline Chown - En Priere, Automne, Apres Un Reve. Then Louise King will play three sole cello pieces with orchestra - Elegie, Sicilenne, Papillon. Noosa Chorale will then sing the beautifully melodic Pavane and Requiem. The baritone will be Sam Johnson.
Faure's Requiem is one of the most beloved of all the major choral-orchestral works, due to its simple, yet sublime, melodies. Its lush, rich harmonies are woven with melodies of great warmth and beauty. The Pavane is very familiar for its unforgettable melody, which flows delicately and gracefully,
Louise King migrated to Australia in 2003. She has an appetite for adventurous music making and has shared the stage with Pavarotti, Nigel Kennedy, Steven Isserlis, Melvyn Tan, Genevieve Lacey, Katie Noonan, David Jones, Yo Yo Ma and Pascal Roge. Louise is an award- winning graduate of the Royal Colleges of Music in Manchester and London who has recorded for BBC radio, ABC classics, Naxos, 4mbs and RTHK and played in many festivals here and overseas.
Noosa Chorale brought you the excitement of Carmina Burana. Now let it float you to ethereal heights and sublime beauty with Fabulous Faure.
Noosa Chorale expresses its thanks to Bendigo Bank for sponsoring this concert.
The concerts will be conducted by Adrian King, who has established his reputation on the Coast for conducting exciting and beautiful choral concerts.
