This holiday workshop program for children and young people offers an inspiring range of local artists and fungi fanatics, who use creativity and culture to explore the brilliant biodiversity of the Sunshine Coast.

Tuesday 4 April – Fun Fungi Assemblage
Make your own fun fungi and mushrooms with local artists Cholena Drew Hughes and Neville Field using paper, wood, air-drying clay and other materials. Explore the fascinating world of fungi and discover creative ways of making awesome fungi and mushroom sculptures.

Wednesday 5 April – Fabulous Flora: Forest Printmaking
Come and experiment with printmaking techniques with local artist Dorothy Haig.  Inspired by and using treasures from the rainforest, you will make three art-cards using collograph, frottage and monoprint to take home or leave on display.  These methods are simple, inexpensive and will have you looking more closely at the patterns and beauty in our native flora.

Thursday 6 April – Plant, Pulp & Wildflower Seed Paper
Turn plants and paper into paper to plant!  Learn how to make beautiful handmade seedpaper from recycled paper pulp and wildflower seeds with Carly Garner from Natureweavers. We will then draw a picture for the forest, wrap it up in a leaf envelope and leave it in just the right place.  Perhaps the forest will draw us a picture as well?  This workshop is messy and fun, playful and practical.

Friday 7 April – The Wild Taste of the Rainforest
Come and discover some of the unique fruits of Australia’s native plants with Veronica Cougan from Witjuti Grub Bushfood Nursery.  We will taste seasonal native fruits whilst learning how Aboriginal people forage/d for optimal health from the delicious and nutritious fruits, seeds and roots that grow locally.  Plant your own seed to look after at home and enjoy the satisfaction of growing native food for yourself.

A $7.50 booking fee per participant is required at time of registration. Individuals and families are eligible. Large group bookings are not eligible.

Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver for whom registration is not required.
