Sunshine Coast Choral Society follows up with favourite opera choruses and arias
Following its blockbuster performance of Mozart's 'Requiem' at the Nambour Civic Centre at the end of April, the Sunshine Coast Choral Society is warming up for another crowd pleaser with a selection of choruses and arias from favourite operas at the new Lake Kawana Community Centre.
Still celebrating Mozart's 250th anniversary, the program includes a chorus from the "Abduction from the Seraglio" and an aria from the "Marriage of Figaro".
Other delights include Bellini's "Casta Diva" from "Norma", the chorus of the wedding guests from Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor", "Torreador" from Bizet's "Carmen" and several choruses from Gilbert and Sullivan. Other delights include "Vilia's song" from "The Merry Widow" by Franz Lehar, arias from Verdi's "La Traviata", Dvorak's haunting aria, "Song to the Moon" from "Russalka" and "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" from Verdi's "Nabucco".
The choir and soloists will be conducted by Rita Paczian.
The program promises to warm up a pleasant winter's Sunday afternoon at the Lake Kawana Community Centre.
The concert commences at 3.00 pm on Sunday, 16 July in the Lake Kawana Community Centre auditorium.
