Police are encouraging residents with in the Peregian Springs and surrounding areas to attend a fire information evening next week in the wake of recent bushfires and hazardous conditions.
South East Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium (SEQFBC) is partnering with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to host the night at Peregian Springs to provide information to landholders about managing fire, with a specific focus on measures that can be taken to better protect individual properties.
Residents are invited to attend the free information night and enjoy a light supper with fellow attendees on Monday 18 November 2019 from 6.00pm – 8.30pm at the Richard Gowty Centre, St Andrews Anglican College.
Representatives from SEQFBC, Sunshine Coast Council, Rural Fire Service Queensland, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services, and Queensland Police Service will share information about their roles and offer advice about planning for the current fire season.
Local laws, vegetation management, and the conservation of plants and animals as well as the role of traditional burning across the landscape will also be discussed by SEQFBC, Healthy Land and Water and Kabi Kabi People.
