Based on his two best-selling books, Flak and Fly, well-known writer and performer Michael Veitch presents his one man show Flak - True stories from the men who flew in World War Two, in which he takes on the roles of former airmen, performed in the voices and characters of the men themselves, including an Australian bomber pilot, counting their extraordinary, true and largely untold stories of combat in the air war of 1939-45.
Projected images and sound, enhance the story-telling and atmosphere of this play.
Michael Veitch interviewed more than fifty airmen, almost all of whom had never revealed their wartime adventures to anyone, including, in some cases, their own families. And the stories they told are truly amazing.
Michael Veitch is a multi-talented writer, performer, presenter and comedian. He has an academic background in history, and made his name as part of the ABC’s cult hit The D Generation, followed by Fast Forward, Full Frontal and more. He is a regular guest presenter and interviewer on ABC radio.
