Washed off, but not brassed off Coast musicians perform Queensland Flood Benefit Concert The Nambour Civic Centre will be the scene of an exciting concert featuring a select group of Sunshine Coast musicians performing a Sunday afternoon benefit concert on 27th February at 2.00pm.
With all proceeds donated to the Salvation Army Queensland Flood Appeal the concert will include performances by Sunshine Brass, Nambour Salvation Army Band, Noosa Chorale and vocal performances by Anne Jackson and State MP for Maroochydore and vocalist, Fiona Simpson.
Kevin Brown, concert organiser and musical director of Sunshine Brass comments: "Our cousins in Brisbane and Toowoomba might have washed off, but we want to make sure they're not brassed off! So if you couldn't make it to the post-flood cleanup, this is a chance to help. Not only that, you'll enjoy some awesome local musicians to boot," says Kevin Brown.
Featuring Anne Jackson as the vocal soloist, the concert will open with Sunshine Brass performing toe taping music from Broadway musicals including All the Jazz and Big Spender. This is followed by big band numbers and well known favourites. Noosa Chorale, fresh from their successful 2010 concert season, will present songs of nostalgia and a good dose of Mozart. The Nambour Salvation Army Band include in their program the virtuoso duet led by Imre Szabo. "Noosa Chorale and the Salvos are real crowd pleasers and I would not be surprised if audience members feel the urge to jump onstage and join in!" laughs Kevin Brown. The grand finale: Sunshine Brass will be joined onstage by both the Salvo Band and the Noosa Chorale as they perform a final version of You Raised Me Up, led by guest vocalist Fiona Simpson. This will be then followed by a combined performance of the stirring Hallelujah Chorus.
"Any local businesses who would like to offer prizes for our charity auction or to sponsor the event, please contact Mark Beard on 0402 122 200 or via email@example.com," says Kevin Brown. The afternoon will also include an auction of some exciting prizes donated by local businesses, with all proceeds from the concert and auction going to the Salvation Army Queensland Flood Appeal.
Thanks the Sunshine Coast Council, The Salvation Army, Charlie Harrision - Auctioneer and Kreshendo Communications for supporting this event.
