The secret lives of flying-foxes revealed!
Did you know that flying-foxes are native animals that play a vital role in our environment?
The secret and fascinating lives that local flying-foxes lead will be revealed at three educational workshops, hosted by Geckoes Wildlife experts and sponsored by Sunshine Coast Council’s Environment Levy.
Environment Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said the workshops were an opportunity for residents to see flying-foxes up close and find out everything they’d like to know about them.
“Flying-foxes are a prominent part of our landscape here on the Sunshine Coast and in some locations their presence has created a fair degree of tension amongst residents,” she said.
“So the purpose of these workshops is to enable locals to get the facts about flying-foxes straight from the experts and have any questions they have about flying-foxes answered by the experts.
“All three species of flying-foxes that live locally will be at the workshops for people to see up close, including a very special flying-fox called ‘Phoebe’ who was orphaned six years ago and is now a very popular education animal.”
