Minister for Employment, Training and Industrial Relations and Minister for Sport
The Honourable Tom Barton
FRASER COAST TO HOST FREE SPORT WORKSHOPS
Local athletes, players, coaches and officials will be shown how to access funding and balance the books at free sport workshops to be held at Bundaberg and Hervey Bay this month. (March)
Minister for Sport Tom Barton said the Building Active Communities Workshops on financial management would offer a great opportunity for local athletes and sporting organisations to access quality information on their own turf.
The Bundaberg workshop will be held on Monday 27 March at the Quality Hotel Burnett Riverside and the Hervey Bay workshop on Tuesday 28 March at the Hervey Bay Boat Club.
Mr Barton said anyone wanting to find out more about the function or wanting to register could either phone 3235 4368 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
"These workshops play a vital role in helping more Queenslanders get active by increasing skills and knowledge throughout the State, particularly at the grassroots level," he said.
"They will provide a useful mix of theory and practical techniques for managing the financial responsibilities of sport clubs and organisations.
"The workshops will cover a wide range of issues such as committee responsibilities, how and where to get funding, drafting and implementing a budget, fundraising, loyalty schemes and audit processes," he said.
"It will also show clubs how they can make the most of their money by investing."
