Wide Bay builders urged to attend the BSA's FREE Better Building SuperShow
The Building Services Authority (BSA) and Construction Skills Queensland will hold a Better Building SuperShow from 12 - 6pm at The Boat Club in Urangan on 6 May.
Minister for Public Works, Robert Schwarten, said the show would cover a range of topics for builders, carpenters, tradies and apprentices.
Run in an afternoon, the show will cover common technical defects and applicable standards and regulations, and give demonstrations of best practice construction methods for concreting, brick and block laying, timber decks and window and door installations.
There will also be a session to introduce recently licensed builders and contractors and final year apprentices to the building industry.
Mr Schwarten said the session on timber deck construction was included as a result of recent deck failures in Brisbane, and the window and door installation session was included as a result of poor construction practices identified after the Brisbane storms i n November 2008.
"More than 4,000 BSA licensees live and work in the Hervey Bay area. I urge them to attend this show and build on their skills," Mr Schwarten said.
Mr Schwarten said this show is part of the Queensland Government's strategy to improve standards, equity and confidence in the Queensland building industry.
