Minister for Small Business, Information Technology Policy and Multicultural Affairs
The Honourable Chris Cummins
FREE SEMINARS FOR SMALL BUSINESS IN GYMPIE, MARYBOROUGH AND KINGAROY
Need funds to expand your business and don't know where to turn?
Free seminars in Kingaroy, Gympie and Maryborough next week will give you the information you need to access the range of government assistance programs available to small business.
Minister for Small Business Chris Cummins today said the free 'Grants for Your Business' seminars would cut through the confusion and offer practical tips on how local business operators could improve their chances of obtaining funding.
"The seminars will have experts from the Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation, AusIndustry and the Wide Bay Burnett Area Consultative Committee on hand to explain exactly what sort of assistance is available, how to check if you are eligible for funding and how to apply for it," he said.
"These experts are locals themselves, they understand local economies and the needs of local businesses and they know difficult it can be to raise capital to grow. Because they're locals, they'll be on hand in the days and weeks after the seminar to provide ongoing help with the application process."
Participants will also hear from local business operators who have successfully applied and received government grants in recent times.
Mr Cummins said the seminars were part of the Beattie Government's ongoing commitment to strengthening Queensland's small business sector.
"Small business is the engine room of our economy. We need to ensure all business operators, regardless of where they are in Queensland, have access to the best possible advice and services," he said.
The 2.5 hour seminars will be held from 5.30pm at the RSL, 126 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy, on Monday April 3; from 5.30pm at the RSL, 217 Mary Street, Gympie, on Tuesday April 4; and, from 5.30pm at the Carriers Arms Hotel, 405 Alice Street, Maryborough, on Wednesday April 5.
