Minister for Small Business, Information Technology Policy and Multicultural Affairs
The Honourable Chris Cummins
SUNSHINE COAST WORKSHOP TARGETS HOME-BASED BUSINESSES
Sunshine Coast residents who run their business from home are invited to attend a free Home-Based Business Workshop and Forum tomorrow, Tuesday 21 February, at the Sands Tavern at Plaza Parade at Maroochydore.
Small Business Minister Chris Cummins said the three-hour forum, from 1 - 4 pm, would examine market trends and opportunities.
"Home-based businesses are an important and growing demographic on the Australian business scene and especially on the Sunshine Coast," he said.
"A recent study of the Noosa Shire by the Noosa Shire Council found that around 68 per cent of businesses in the shire were home-based."
The forum is being presented by Dr Kim Houghton of Strategic Economic Solutions, a 'business futurist' who is renowned for conducting entertaining, inspiring and challenging sessions.
In his presentation Dr Houghton will draw on national economic, demographic, social and consumer trends to highlight growth opportunities for home-based businesses on the Sunshine Coast throughout the remainder of this decade.
Mr Cummins said the forum would also give participants the opportunity to network with other home-based business people and share common experiences.
To register for the Home-Based Business Workshop and Forum, or for more information, contact the Sunshine Coast State Development Centre on 5470 9400.
