The Noosa Malibu Club and Surfdancer, Kristy Quirk are holding the first-ever club open day on Sunday, November 12, 2006. All members of the public are encouraged to attend the FREE event for a day of fun, sun, surf and snags. The Noosa Malibu Club is now under an outstanding new management team, who are making it possible for the public to check out what the club has to offer.
Anyone interested is advised to meet at the Noosa Heads Surfclub carpark at 6:30 a.m.
On the second Sunday of each month, members of the club meet for a surf session and mini-competition (all in good fun of course!). The club competition includes divisions for all levels - beginners, groms (under 10), juniors, open womens, open mens and the NEW retro division.
All ages are welcome and families are especially encouraged to come along to participate in the comp or just to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Events for the day include an inspirational chat with current World and Australian Longboard champion, Josh Constable, the opportunity to learn how to judge and the chance to expand your social circle by meeting other local surfers. A wide range of surfboards will be provided by Noosa Longboards and Classic Malibu for the chance to sample different surfboards of all styles.
Club Social Director, Steve "Monty" Montell believes, "This is a great opportunity for anyone who has ever wondered what its like to be part of a [surfing] club to come down and be a part of it for a day".
Following a crazy day at the beach, will be a barbecue from 2-5 p.m. at the Noosa Lions park at the bottom of Noosa Hill.
