PUTTING THE "FUN" IN OCTOBER
Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned fete? Mountain Creek State School will hold their famous "Funtober Fete" on Saturday October 22nd between 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and the entire community is invited.
Families are welcome to come along and enjoy traditional fete fare with the crowds.
Funtober Fete, the school's major fundraising effort, offers something for everyone. For the kids, there are amazing rides to enjoy plus the infamous House of Horrors to make your hair stand on end. There are also a great variety of show bags, face painting, tattoos, crazy hair, baby animals to pat, pony rides, snow cones, inflatables, and side show games. Our lucky bottles are always so popular. For the older crowd, there are some totally awesome prizes to win on the chocolate wheel while watching the wonderful array of entertainment on the main stage.
The silent auction will attract many comments on the quality of the prizes. Event organiser, Virginia Brooker, said the day is a special time to bring people together. “Funtober Fete day is one of the highlights of the year for our school and the community. It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to grab a bargain, enjoy fantastic treats and take home something special,” Mrs Brooker said. “There will be lots of traditional fete stalls to enjoy such as the second-hand books and treasures, fairy floss and snow cones.
The highlight for us is to showcase our new multi-million dollar auditorium with it’s trendy new “Café Connect” and an indoor/outdoor stage area where we will be having a full line up of entertainment throughout the day. Principal, Mr Noel Baggs, said the event is hugely popular and is highly anticipated by students, staff, parents and the community at large. “The fete gives our school an opportunity to promote our school in a fun, family-friendly environment. It's a terrific way for our school to raise much needed funds, even if it means I will be dunked by some enthusiastic students more than once on the dunking machine!”
“I would encourage everyone in our community to come along for a day of fun.”
There will be a tempting barbecue and some authentic Thai food, home-made cakes cooked by members of the school community as well as a pretty café where one can recharge their batteries. Other great foods will be the ever-popular Potato Twists and Pizza.
Parking is available along Lady Musgrave Drive around the school’s main entrance. Entry to the fete is via Lady Musgrave Drive. If it is raining, the fete will still go ahead as stalls will be located in undercover areas and inside the new Mountain Creek Community Complex.
