GERBERA CHARITY WALK May 21 Time: flexible start 8am to 10am Where: Cotton Tree Park (Maroochydore Rotary Park), opposite Second Avenue.
May is Domestic Violence Prevention month. The Gerbera Charity walk will help raise community awareness of domestic violence, and support the Sunshine Coast women's refuge 'Sonshine Sanctuary'.
The walk starts at Cotton Tree Park and follows the picturesque coastline to Alexandra Heads, Mooloolaba and The Spit. With car parks at all these locations you can arrange a walk that suits your fitness level. Finish your walk at any of these points or do a round-trip to return to Cotton Tree Park. Adults: $5 Children free.
Why a gerbera? Despite our sizzling summer these little garden beauties have managed to burst out of the ground with cheerful, resilient faces. Our symbol of an orange coloured gerbera supports the 'Orange Your World' initiative of the United Nations: UniTE to end violence against women and girls.
Everyone who joins the walk will be given an orange gerbera daisy to wear and you will be able to greet other participants and the volunteers at the 'Gerbera Stations' along the way!
