Gympie Local MP David Gibson has called a public meeting in response to community concerns regarding Energex high voltage power lines through Gympie.
The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at the Gympie Civic Centre and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
As a result of Mr Gibson's efforts Energex has agreed to re-examine ALL options to supply additional power and there is now the opportunity to provide community feedback.
"At this meeting we will discuss how the community can best provide written submission to Energex to ensure their concerns are heard." Mr Gibson said.
Mr Gibson said a lot of residents had already expressed views him on the power line proposal and he wanted to ensure that the community knew it was important to share these views with Energex.
"It is clear that as our community grows we will need additional power but it is important that all options to supply the power we need for the future are considered including the undergrounding of the powerlines if that is what the community wants."
If people are unable to attend the meeting they are encouraged to provide feedback on Energex high voltage power lines by contacting Mr Gibson's office in writing at PO Box 1277, Gympie or by email at Gympie@parliament.qld.gov.au by the end of April.
The Public meeting will be next Wed 21 April.
