Gigi is a gorgeous romantic musical with wonderful songs written by the award winning team of Lerner and Lowe who brought you My Fair Lady.
Set in 1900 Paris, Gigi is the young courtesan who falls in love in the most romantic way possible. But the story is not just about romance and love. It's about rich and bored men who dominated Paris society, and the women behind the scenes who manipulated them. It's about romantic men who believe in the art of love, romance and seduction, epitomized by the role made famous by Maurice Chevalier, the quintessential Frenchman
Just a minute! Money? Sex? Romance? Power? Set in 1900? Oh yes, and a lot more, all portrayed in the most expressive, romantic music that will have you humming as you leave the theatre and smiling at the wonderfully witty and clever libretto.
Gigi will steal your heart, just as she stole the hearts of everyone who had anything to do with her coming of age.
The Noosa Arts production is in the capable hands of Director, Paul Ritchie, who directed the highly successful Hello Dolly and Cabaret. He is delighted with the cast.
Musical Director, Adrian King, the Musical Director of Noosa Chorale and the Sunshine Coast Choral Society since 2007, is fast gaining a reputation for inspiring wonderful singing on the Sunshine Coast.
Madison Thew-Keyworth who plays Gigi has shown her versatility on the stage as a dancer, singer and actor at Noosa Arts Theatre in Cabaret and Hello Dolly and she won Best Actress for her role as Julia in Neighbourhood Witch in 2006. She honed her skills in 2007 at NIDA.
Michael Healy plays Gaston, the world weary womanizer who, to his own surprise, falls head over heels in love for Gigi. Michael has been singing and acting since he was 14 in both amateur theatre and professional bands and comedy acts. He is joined by other principals with a wealth of experience including Yvie Sommerville, Margaret Courtney and Stephen Taffe
