Registration fees will benefit a local charity and are set at $2.00 per individual, $5.00 per family or team and $20.00 for schools.  Any number of students may be entered for the one fee.  The school that enters the most number of participants in relation to its enrolment size (e.g. percentage of students who participate) will win a  $1450 value prize of a Digital Video Camera and a DVD Player for the school and a CD player ($150) for a selected student, generously sponsored by Noosaville's Harvey Norman Music Centre.

Registrations will commence at 8.30 am on Sunday the 24th at the Noosa Heads Lions Park.  The 10.5 km Ride and 4.5 km Walk will commence at 9.00 and are expected to finish, back at the Lions Park at 10.00 am.  Activities will include a sausage sizzle (hosted by the Rotary Club of Noosa Heads), free bike workshops, giveaways and prizes (including a weekend at Kingfisher Bay, free Massages, cooking classes & Accommodation from Fountainhead Health Retreat, Passes to Australia Zoo and Underwater World), healthy lifestyle displays and meet and greet opportunities with Constable Clancy the Koala.
Route maps have been designed to lead cyclists along Noosa Parade to the Gympie Terrace riverfront to the Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club and then back via Noosa Waters.  Those preferring a shorter distance will have several turnaround options.  The walk will progress past the Sheraton to Noosa Woods and around Noosa Spit, returning via the Main Beach boardwalk and First Point pathway.

Bike ride gathers momentum
Organisers of Noosa's Great Community Walk and Bike Ride are hoping to attract hundreds of local school children to the event, scheduled for the Noosa Heads Lions Park on the morning of Sunday, October 24th and hopefully also scheduled to raise significant funds for Noosa North Shore camping trips for disadvantaged boys.

Registration proceeds will benefit the Noosa North Shore Youth Adventure, a three-day supervised self-esteem building camp for boys who do not have fathers or father figures in their day-to-day lives.  40 boys have to date attended the camp, which was initiated by the Sunshine Beach State High School in 2002.

Bicycle Advisory Group Chair Cr Vivien Griffin says schools and students have another important incentive.  "Thanks to Noosaville's Harvey Norman Music Centre, the school that enters the highest number of participants in relation to its enrolment size will win a $1450 value prize of a Digital Video Camera and DVD player for the school, and a CD player (worth $150) for a selected student," Cr. Griffin explained.

Registration fees for schools  are just $20.00 for their entire team, while individual entrants will pay $2.00 each and families $5.00 each.  Schools may enter any number of students :  the more, the better their chance of winning the camera and DVD.

The 4.5 km walk along Noosa Spit will be enlivened by a local history commentary by Council Recreation staff and volunteers along the way.  The route will include some of the extensive pathway network in Noosa Woods which allows users to access the quieter beaches on the inside of the river mouth.  The walk will also take in the scenic timber stairway linking the end of the First Point path with Park Road.

Noosa Heads Police cyclists, 2003 Noosa Triathlon winner Craig Walton and triathlete Emma Snowsill will head the 10.5 km bike ride, which will follow a new section of bikeway in Noosa Parade between Weyba Road and Dolphin Crescent.    The ride will loop to the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club and back via Noosa Waters, traversing a number of the bike routes detailed in the Noosa Bikeways map, with route marker signs along the way.

Registrations will commence at 8.30 am at the Noosa Heads Lions Park and at the completion of the event activities will include a star performance by cycle-mad koala Constable Clancy during the sausage sizzle, free bike workshops, healthy lifestyle displays, giveaways and prizes.
