This is the third year for this event. The inaugural event was held at the Noosaville Lions Park, last year at Noosa Heads Lions Park and this year's event will be at the Tewantin Lions Park on the 15th of October. The event is continually growing and last year we introduced healthy lifestyle displays. There are great prizes on offer and entertainment and food provided after the ride and walk concludes. This is a great family day that focuses on health, fitness and fun!! Registration is only $2.50.
Last year's walk comprised of a 4.5 km walk along Noosa Spit which was enlivened by a local history commentary by Council Recreation staff and volunteers along the way. The route included some of the extensive pathway network in Noosa Woods which allowed users to access the quieter beaches on the inside of the river mouth. The walk also took in the scenic timber stairway linking the end of the First Point path with Park Road.
This year's event will be the same distance but will be departing from Tewantin Lions Park with the exact course yet to be confirmed. Again we will be having local history commentary by Council Recreation staff and volunteers along the way.
Noosa Heads Police cyclists and 2003 Noosa Triathlon winner Craig Walton and triathlete Emma Snowsill headed the 2004 bike ride. The 10.5 km ride followed a new section of bikeway in Noosa Parade between Weyba Road and Dolphin Crescent. The ride looped to the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club and back via Noosa Waters, traversing a number of the bike routes detailed in the Noosa Bikeways map, with route marker signs along the way.
This year's event will be the same distance but again will be departing from Tewantin Lions Park with the exact course yet to be confirmed.
