Gympie Lifeline 25th Birthday with Longest Standing Volunteer!
Gympie Lifeline has been in operation since 15th June 1985. The volunteers and staff at the Gympie shop will celebrate the special occasion with Joyce Palmer who has been a dedicated volunteer since its inception 25 years ago.
Situated in the hub of Gympie in Mary Street, Lifeline Shop has been supplying affordable, reused goods and clothing to the Gympie community for 25 years. Shop managers Narelle and Gail are extremely happy and excited about the milestone they have reached and hope to continue their rewarding work for years to come.
Like an old friend or an historical landmark, residents get a sense of nostalgia about the Gympie Lifeline as it seems to have 'always been there.' It is a bit like Lifeline in its essence really: always there for people in need.
The Gympie Lifeline like all the shops in the Sunshine Coast network raise much needed funds for the counselling services that Lifeline provides free of charge to those hurting within our community on the coast. Lifeline Sunshine Coast currently receives over 5,800 phone calls per year on our 24 hour Crisis Line and over 2,500 Face-to-Face counselling sessions by appointment.
