Gympie City showcases Quilts and Crafts over weekend
A great reason to check out Gympie will be this weekends Quilt and Craft Spectacular to be held at Gympie Showgrounds.
Gympie Rotarian Rob Ison who coordinates the Spectacular said "the show has quickly become renowned for its international quilt exhibitions and supporting craft and art displays"
Rob added "Visitors are able to step back in time as they stroll through the exhibits and talk to the dedicated exponents of these age old skills. Under the one roof they can marvel at the wonderful display of colourful quilts, furniture and hand made crafts that have been made with skills handed down over generations". .
There will be opportunities to learn the skills from the experts at daily workshops on quilting, scrapbooking, sewing, patchwork and beading.
Other features include displays of 'Quilting Diva' Hangings made by Bundaberg Quilters and recently featured in a six-page layout in Australian Patchwork and Quilting Magazine.
Well known local artist Peter Hughes will be on site displaying and demonstrating his artwork along with an exhibition of works by Cooloola Potters.
A variety of other craft displays including teddy bears, porcelain dolls, art, paper tole and stitchery all adds to the attractions.
Local Folk Artists are presenting other exhibitions. a display of the finalist¹s entries competing in the local Scrapbooking page competition along with working demonstrations and display of works by Cooloola Woodworkers
There is a large trade show from exhibitors from throughout South East Queensland covering quilting, patchwork, sewing, scrapbooking, beading, crochet, embroidery, porcelain dolls, buttons and the list goes on.

The Gympie Rotary Club presents the Quilt and Craft Spectacular and members will be on hand providing catering at the café with a delicious menu for all your morning, afternoon teas and lunches.
