The Mary Valley Rattler fleet is made up of heritage diesel and steam locomotives and carriages each with their own unique story. The fleet also boasts vintage railmotors.
The engine pulling the heritage carriages for your rail journey with be locomotive DEL1632. The DEL1632 is a 1620 class diesel electric locomotive built by The English Electric Company at Rocklea in Brisbane. The class was introduced into Queensland Rail in 1967. It has been fully restored in the Mary Valley Rattler workshop. This loco celebrated 50 years of service on 20 Aug 2017.
The historic Gympie Station on Tozer St, has been restored to its former glory. Make sure you arrive early enough to take time to wander through the Station where you will learn the stories of the Mary Valley Rattler line, its people and its history.
The popular Platform No.1 Cafe offers a dine in experience before or after your rail journey, or you can buy take away treats to enjoy on board. You can even purchase a bottle of wine and a local cheese platter for the ride.
The gift shop offers a selection of local goodies as well as speciality giftware and souvenirs.

Your return journey stops at the beautiful heritage station in Dagun. Meet the locals and experience the friendly laid back atmosphere of rural living at its best before you are back on board for your return trip to Gympie.

Morning Departure: Departs Gympie Station at 9.30am, Returns Gympie Station at 12.30pm
Afternoon Departure: Departs Gympie Station at 2.00pm, Returns Gympie Station at 5.00pm.
Check in at least 45 minutes before departure.
