Gympie to host free sports workshop
Local athletes, players, coaches and officials will be given a fresh insight on how to improve performance at a free workshop on sports nutrition in Gympie this month.
The Deputy Premier and Minister for Sport, Mr Terry Mackenroth, said the Building Active Community Workshop would not only explain the science behind sports nutrition, but how to put it into practice.
The workshop will be held at the Pavilion Conference and Recreation Centre, Exhibition Road, Gympie, on Monday, March 14, from 6pm to 9pm.
"This is a great opportunity for local athletes and sporting organisations to access quality information on their own turf," Mr Mackenroth said.
"These workshops play a vital role in helping more Queenslanders get active by increasing skills throughout the State, particularly at the grassroots level."
Mr Mackenroth said the three-hour program would provide a useful mix of theory, discussion, case studies and practical pointers.
"It will cover a wide range of issues from dietary supplements and tips for training to coping with the demands of competition and active recovery sessions," he said.
"The program will also provide information on how to avoid becoming dehydrated during training and competition."
