The Gympie sports community is being encouraged to take advantage of the Bligh Government's free Planning for the future of your club workshop on Tuesday, 11 October.
Sport Minister Phil Reeves said the workshop will be targeted towards local sporting clubs, administrators, instructors, coaches and volunteers.
"It will provide participants with information and tips on business and succession planning, and a rundown on the latest technology," Mr Reeves said.
"This is a great opportunity for the local sports community to increase and share their knowledge and contribute to the development of sport and recreation in the region."
The workshop will feature presentations and good practice methods for club committee members, promoting discussion and sharing of ideas on:
Business planning - why we need to plan and how do you develop one;
Succession planning - how do you ensure a smooth transition; and
Technology - keeping up to speed - what is it and how do you use it.
Mr Reeves said the workshop will provide the local sport and recreation industry with the necessary information and tools.
"These sessions are part of the Government's commitment to grassroots sport in Queensland," he said.
"We want local clubs to develop and thrive, providing more opportunities for locals to get involved and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
"One of the targets in the Queensland Government's blueprint for the next decade, Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland, is to help Queenslanders become Australia's healthiest people by 2020.
"This is why we continue to provide support for programs, projects and facilities which help people of all ages participate in sport and active recreation.
"Developing sport at the grassroots right up to the elite level heightens our chances of hosting events, and reinforces our reputation as the Champions State and the Events State as well.
"The Bligh Government has made the tough economic decisions to ensure we can continue to support local sport and recreation."
