Hands that create on display at Gallery
The handiwork of some of the City's most accomplished arts and crafts associations will take centre stage at the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery later this month.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said Hands that Create will showcase traditional and contemporary arts and crafts by members of the Caloundra Arts Centre Association, along with an extensive program of demonstrations.
"The Caloundra Arts Centre Association has a long and proud tradition in this City, having operated for more than 30 years, and its fitting that some of the fine efforts of its members are displayed in this way," Cr Aldous said.
Formed in 1975, the CACA is a non profit organisation that boasts 18 different member groups with 440 members. Its aim is to stimulate public interest in cultural activities and foster artistic talent and appreciation of the arts.
The group also provide donations to a range of charitable organisations, including Flying Doctors, School of the Air and Drought Relief to Farmers.
Hands that Create will run from Wednesday 14 February until Sunday 1 April.
Demonstrations ranging from lace making, embroidery, quilting, paper tole, and pottery commence on 14 February and continue until April. All demonstrations will be held at the Gallery from 10am-noon.
Two workshops will also be held as part of the exhibition. Pottery for Absolute Beginners will be held on Wednesday 7 March, 10am-1pm at the Gallery. The Artists Way, on 22 March from 10am-1pm is an adult mixed media workshop. Bookings are required and there is a small cost for each workshop.
