Giving small business owners a voice in the fight to rebuild the Sunshine Coast's economy will be a key theme for an upcoming Small Business Forum launched today by Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson.

Ms Simpson said the forum on November 5 would feature Senator Barnaby Joyce as well as an interactive panel with Commerce Queensland President David Goodwin and local business leaders Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce President Myles McNamara, and Coolum Business and Tourism President Rod Richards.

"This forum is focussed on giving small business owners an opportunity to voice their concerns and help identify the solutions we can work together to action," Ms Simpson said.

"The Sunshine Coast economy is doing it tough -- that means many small businesses who are major employers need to be heard as to how we can support them and build a brighter future for their businesses and local jobs.

"Regulations, restrictions and soaring government fees and charges are strangling small business here in the Maroochydore Electorate and the wider Sunshine Coast region."

"This is an opportunity to participate in a process that will help shape our action plan for small business and to inform economic development policy," Ms Simpson said.
